CSH (Community Supported Herbalism), like CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), helps support farmers by sharing the costs and risks of farming, while bringing consumers closer to native and cultivated plants. This CSH supports a local clinical herbalist and encourages clients to incorporate nourishing herbal medicine into their daily lives. All herbal preparations are small-batch and garden-grown with tender love and care in Austin, TX.
I prepare and offer tinctures, vinegars, salves, lotions, and honey. Each seasonal share includes four medicines and one fresh or dried herb with recipes and tips on how to use it.
Seasonal shares are 4 times/year at $60/share. You can choose to purchase each share separately, or in a yearly bundle of $200. One work-trade share is available each season for those who cannot cover the full cost. In exchange for 8 hours/season of gardening, making herbal preparations, and/or packaging, you receive one share.
The seasonal shares follow the solstice and equinox cycles. All pick-ups will be on the eve of the solstice/equinox and are run out of my home in Central East Austin. Season dates are listed below, bolded dates are pick-up dates. Exact location and further logistics will be provided with sign-up.
Autumn Share: September 21 — December 20
Winter Share: December 20 — March 19
Spring Share: March 19 — June 20
Summer Share: June 20 — September 21
A Spring share could include an alternative tea blend, nourishing skin salve, a flower honey, and a bundle of fresh lemon balm. The nature of a CSA/CSH is largely dependent on outdoor conditions, so each yield will be slightly different.
